Twin brothers Bubblun and Bobblun have been magically cursed into the adorable little bubble dragons Bub and Bob by the wicked Baron von Blubba. To break the curse and rescue their beloved girlfriends, the duo must ascend through 100 peril-filled cavernous levels of the Cave of Monsters.
One of the most addictive arcade conversions ever brought to home micros, players blow bubbles to encase roaming monsters like Zen-Chan (wind-up toys) and Mighta (wizards). Once an enemy is trapped inside a bubble, jumping into it pops the bubble, eliminating the foe and dropping fruit bonuses. Levels feature air currents that carry bubbles upwards, water bubbles that unleash tidal waves, lightning bubbles, and special candy power-ups.
Software Creations' Steve Ruddy achieved a practically arcade-perfect conversion on the 64. Peter Clarke's cheerful, infectious SID arrangement of Tadashi Kimijima's iconic theme song is permanently etched into the memories of millions of retro gamers.
Joystick Port 2 (Bub) & Port 1 (Bob): Left/Right to Walk, Up to Jump, Fire to blow Bubbles, Down to drop through specific platform grates.
Ranked among the greatest co-op games of all time, Bubble Bobble on the C64 remains a staple of retro gaming collections and multiplayer party sessions.
